Dolphins come
back to beat Eagles
SportsTicker
Miami (May4, 2000)
The Dolphins had
another scare this week, but Dan Marino saved the day once again to
keep the Dolphins undefeated at 6-0. The Eagles had initially forfeited
this game but the Dolphins felt strongly about kicking some ass and
"sub-committee" coach Sweetness brought this woeful Eagles team up to
par. The first quarter the Dolphins scored quick on the 3rd play of
the game with a 79 yard pass to OJ McDuffie to put the Dolphins up 7-0
and the first quarter would finish with that score. Dan Marino in the
2nd quarter threw a couple interceptions, one being on the 1 yard line.
The Eagles could only convert one of the turnovers into a N. Johnson
40 yard field goal to put the game Dolphins 7-3. The Dolphins would
bounce back with a 75 yard pass to WR Y. Green and another 54 yard pass
to Y. Green, the Eagles would also have a 76 yard pass from QB D. McNabb
to D. Jells to end the first half Dolphins 21-10. The Second half the
Eagles would make a comeback with 2 touchdowns from Mcnabb to Staley,
one for 10 yards and one for 15 yards to put the Eagles on top at the
end of the third quarter 24-21. The fourth quarter the Eagles got a
N. Johnson 33 yard field goal to make the game 27-21 and the game looked
bleak for the Dolphins as they weren't able to do anything offensively.
Dan Marino finally put together a drive at the end of the game that
ended with a Marino - FB Pritchett Touchdown pass for 15 yards and the
Dolphins win this game 28-27! Dan Marino was 10 of 22 for 358 yards
and 4 TD's Donavan McNabb was 16 of 24 for 252 yards and 3 TD's WR Y.
Green was MVP with 3 receptions for 167 yards and 2 TDs.
