What
the ballers are saying about Nationals V
Execution/VPL
(Washington, D. C.) - Thanks again for delivering spectacular coverage
of National V games live via Internet, last weekend. It was a great experience,
viewing memorable games like the Gunz/Cocky Lou thriller and the Championship
Game. I can't even begin to imagine what it would have been like if I were there
in person. One day, I will make my Nationals debut! Hopefully, on Madden 2004!
Other exciting
and memorable games that were brodcast on the Internet were:
- Kambo/Candyman:
Candyman had a 20-0 lead and I believe one of the commentators said that he
was cruising and headed towards winning in a rout. He ended up being upset,
44-33.
- Realist/Big
Game James: These two players combined for over 110 points in a game where
defense was not on the menu (I believe both defensive coordinators were fired
at the half). The Realist held off (with defense) BGJ 66-59 at his goalline,
with seconds left in the game. In the chatroom, we were 100% sure that BGJ
would have gone for 2 for the outright victory.
- Sandman/Wayne
Walton: A thrilling Sweet 16 game, that ended in OT! However, Sandman had
a chance to win it in regulation, but passed up on a 48 yd FG attempt (with
Gramatica/TB) with 5 secs left, in favor of getting into a closer range. Of
course, his man was tackled with no time remaining. He lost the OT coin toss
and the game, 59-56.
- Hogan (Free
Agent) who made the Elite 8, during his interview saying that he was not the
best player from his camp, and in addition he does not own a PS-2 nor have
Madden. He also said that he has never attended a tournament, nor has he ever,
ever, ever played online. He is 16 years old and just plays Madden with his
friends in his neighborhood ... and matter of factly made Nationals V Elite
8
Maliki/Free
Agent (Austin, TX) - I want to say it was excellent coverage. Ive listened
to National III,IV, and V. Each getting better with time. The video was nuts!!!
Commentary was good as well. This thing would be awsome on ESPN!!! Without Question.
E* Smith/HOB
(Washington, D.C.) - The Official Nationals Host City ........SHOULD
BE MIAMI right along side Zo's Summer Groove from here on out. Nationals don't
need to go on a PGA type of tour from city to city. Keep it in MIAMI! The combination
of events was crazy.
Swammi, bruh, u may need to adjust the schedule for us party go-ers. I mean
to crash at 6am and have to play Madden at 9am is kinda ruff. *lol* I mean to
get my head totally beat in on Survivor Sunday and be glad that I now have the
entire day free to enjoy the city... I mean really eases the pain! I went farther
in the tourney at Nationals 4 but enjoyed my "vacation" oh so much
more at Nationals 5. I didn't see one complete game other than my own! MIAMI
clearly makes up for the fact that the game sucks and I stink at it. And since
it's highly likely it will suck again for 2004 which will in turn force me to
stink at it, I would like Miami to be there for me in my time of need.
Red Zone
Money/BAMA (San Francisco, CA) -
The Venue
The Inter Continental hotel was first class establishment, evidenced by the
number of sport celebrities that chose to stay at the hotel. Personally, I met
Shawn Marion and saw Steve Francis and Darius Miles. The hotel lobby beautifully
designed, complete with a generous number of soft leather love seats and armchairs.
The hotel also was also equipped with full gym and swimming pool, with a picturesque
view of the Miami skyline.
The Tournament
The majority of the games were played on nearly 50 27" or larger t.v's.
Two LCD projectors showcased marquee matchups on large white screens. Unlike
Nationals IV, there was plenty of space for the ballers to play and spectators
to watch. The tournament was exceptionally officiated by Swammi his crew. For
example, when The Realist played Young Gunz, a catch at the 2 yard line was
at first ruled out of bounds. The play was reviewed by the booth and the catch
was ruled fair. However, a PS2 programming glitch did not place the ball at
the spot of the catch. With the crowd in an uproar, Swammi calmly addressed
the situation and decided that the ball had to be placed at the spot of the
catch, much to the chagrin of Young Gunz's entourage and supporters. The situation
was handled professionally and play resumed.
The ladies:
I have never, ever seen more beautiful women in one place. The finest, most
exotic latin women I have ever seen in my life can be found in Miami Beach.
Latinas from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Argentinia, Colombia, and other central
and south american countries were everywhere, often scantily clad wearing nothing
more than thongs. Unlike other metropolitan cities, the women in Miami Beach
were approachable and friendly. Unbelievable.
PsycoPat/BAMA (San
Francisco, CA) - Nationals V is in the books, and once again it was another
first class kick a$$ tournament. To all those who attended, you don't need to
be reminded of just how off tha hook all of it was. To those who weren't there
y'all missed out. Besides the comp I believe Nationals is ultimately about a
bunch of like minded folks from all over the nation, coming together and seeing
how much fun could be had.
I also think its about putting some names together with faces. I beieve we succeeded
on all counts. To everyone I met/talked to/chilled with/drank with/gambled with/played
madden with: It was a pleasure and I'll see ya on the boards and at Nationals
VI...
And now a few thoughts/comments/awards etc...
MIAMI: My first time, and definitely not my last. Beautiful weather, great transporation,
everything fairly afforadable, great night life, great shopping, plenty of restraunts,
fantastic cultural diversity, great hotel, plenty of clubs and alcohol...and
let me see here...Seems like I'm forgetting something...the weather? nah, I
said that already...maybe I already mentioned everything...Nah, I'm forgetting
something...
OH YEAH!!!
The most finest, tightest, beautifulist, lucious, deliscious, hottest, thick
and slender, drop dead gorgeous, eye catching, heavenly, ridiculously abdundant
collection of females!!!...I meant to say Miami has a lot of pretty women also...
The Realist: Congrats to the youngest MWS Champion ever. Is his game repetitive?
Yes
Is it predictible?
Yes
Did he run through everyone with his repetitive, predicitible, style that everyone
claimed they knew how to stop?
Um..Yeah
The kid's got mad stick control and is NOT a CPU catcher. He's also has a potent
offense and is underrated on 'D'...
Bottom line, almost 200 people had an equal chance at winning and he showed
up and did his thing.
You're Nationals V champ Realist enjoy it, you earned it!!!
A FEW QUESTIONS: How come neither of the finalists had any controllerments on
their cords?
Did Tyrese notice that they were selling 2 Fast 2 Furious boot legs out front?
Who gave those guyz permission to do that anyway?
How come the movies worked on PS2's and not my lap top?
How come everytime I got on the elevator someone was going to the fourteenth
floor?
How can Sandman do so well downstairs and so poorly upstairs? lol
Was that a midget I was dancing with or was she just really short?
Was she thinking the same thing about me?
Did Act Right decide to spend the weekend at the hotel bar before or after he
got kicked out of his room?
Is it just me or were there a lot of fat ballers at Nationals?
Which illiterate, dumb a$$, $hit talkin', idiot failed to show at Nationals again
after swearing he was coming?
Answer: Who gives a $hit?
Awards and other Stuff...
Tournamnet MVP: The Realist
FG Champ: The Realist
MWS Rookie of the Year: The Realist
Nationals V champ: The Realist
Best hair: Um...let me get back to you on that one
Best Stick Control: Young Gunz, this guy is gonna be winning in and out of tournies
for as long as he chooses to keep playing...Good job Gunz.
Non-Tournamnet MVP: Buck Rico...Thanx for bringing happiness to so many.
Best Game: Wayne Walton VS. The Sandman...
Wayne ties it with loooong FG at the end of regulation than wins it in OT 56-53
to advance to the elite 8...
Questionable Call: Wayne VS. The Realist in the final 8. Down three with under
2 min left he goes for it on fourth and inches inside the 10 and gets stopped
for the second time in the game in that situation...Realist wins 17-14.
So EA reads these boards huh?: I hope you know your lousy, bug filled programming
brought a great champioship game to a screaching halt and got a buncha people
all heated...Game features (like the booth instant replay) need to work all
of the time, not just most of the time or else it gets real frustrating for
everyone....
This year's surprise free agent: Hogan (youngster out of Miami) Forget about
being recruited to a Baller's Camp there are some brothers that are ready to
legally adopt this kid...
F.Y.I.: Don't play craps with Jon B. unless you got cajones of steel and a lot
of $$$ to burn...
F.Y.I. ptII: Frank the Tank don't like people holdin' up the dice...
Reason# 10,037 that PsycoPat Flunked out of Pimp College: When the fine a$$
bartender at Wet Willie's in South Beach remember's you and asks how you're
doing in the tournament you say: Won all my games and I'm favored to win the
championship and a ton of money, you gon' help me celebrate sweetheart?
You don't say: Not so good, I got stomped...
"The West Don't Love Madden Like We Do": But at least we showed...
huh Curly Top? For real dude its not the same with out you...
Peace out to all my BAMA brothers who made the trip: Quick 6, J-Dub, Big Easy,
Red Zone Money, Baby Boy Blitz, and Philly Guy...
Shouts out to: PC, Mario, Jigg, T-Fonk, Reality, Blaze,Act Right, The Chairman,
C-Webb, Shock, Mo Nut, Powder, Chuck Dogg, Father Time, Jon B, Half Dolla, Da
Hustleman, Storm, Big Nai, CandyMan, Rob Nice, Da Ghost, Goose, Quinn Swift,
Ray Green, DC, Renegade X, Frank the Tank, Rachel at Hooters, and anyone else
I hung out with this weekend...
