Decisions,
Decisions....
| |
 |
| Salley hopes Bledsoe can bring him to the promise
land.. |
Keith
Salley was rolling strong in the first three weeks of the season,
putting up impressive numbers against decent competition and raising
some eyebrows among his PFL rivals. Going into last weekıs games,
Salley was sitting pretty at 3-1. In unexplainable fashion, Salley
decided to gamble late in the game against Allen, going for it on
a 4th down in his own territory. Of course Salley failed to convert
the 4th down, handing an easy opportunity for victory over to Coach
Allenıs 49ers.
This
gamble came at a very poor time for Salley as his next 5 games are
all against tough opponents. Although Salley was able to put his
mistake behind him in game 2 last week, his Bills just didnıt have
enough to outlast the heavily favored Steelers. Iım sure that Salley
will look back at his playcalling against Allen at the end of the
season as one of the turning points in his rookie year in the PFL.
This
week, Salley will be in a New York state of mind, playing both the
Jets and the Giants. Against the Jets, Salley will have an advantage
because of his success in moving the ball against Pittsburgh. Both
the Jets and Steelers (Lucas and Conyers) are from the same camp
and they both play identical defensive schemes. Unless Lucas can
come up with some new schemes for stopping Salleyıs deadly audible
down-goaline scheme, look for Salley to have no trouble moving the
ball with big plays to Molds and Price.
In
game 2, Salley faces fellow rookie and sparring partner Jermaine
Williams. Although we have never seen these two play each other
in head-to-head competition, it appears that Salley has the better
game at this point. It may be interesting though, because Williams
has had plenty of opportunities to go against the goalline scheme
of Salley and may have some tricks up his sleeve.

Bills
|
3-3 |
Salley's
questionable coaching cost him a chance to be at least 4-1
at this point, if not 6-0. Down the stretch the Bills will
have to make better decisions if they plan to make the playoffs. |
