For
The Love Of The Game by
Antonio Womack.....special to the PFL.com
One may wonder, what makes a competitor compete week after week, year
after year only for the same result....... a pure butt whipping in the
PFL. You show up each week with your game plan in hand and full of confidence,
but in the end, another defeat. For those of you who don't understand
why. Well it's simple, it has to be "For TheLove of the
Game".
Now don't misunderstand
me, I'm not showing up every week with my ears pinned back and bending
over just for a good time. I am giving it all that I have. I am reminded
of this quote "Satisfaction lies in effort, not in the attainment.
Full effort is full victory."
I decided to write this
article just in case there my be a baller or two contemplating on whether
or not to compete or just throw in the towel and head to the showers and
stick with board games and cards. I really can't comment on other leagues
but being a member of the PFL, IT'S AN EVENT, not only just a game. The
camaraderie shared by the ballers in victory or defeat is truly spiritual
. It's fierce rivalry in nature with compassion in heart. If you truly
love the game, then love the game. Victories will come and go, whomever
is the top dog today will surly be as meek as a kitten tomorrow or next
season.
Its a game within a game,
a game with two opponents. One opponents behind the control of the joystick
the other lies deep within oneself. One of the opponents you may be able
to defeat now and then, but the other, truly makes you a winner and a
looser. That opponent is most dangerous of them all, for the opponent,
is yourself.
Do you love the game, or
do you just enjoy your short lived victories? Ironically I believe you
can have it all! That's the beauty of the PFL. The Game, the Event, the
Ballers, the camaraderie, the Victories, THE LEAGUE.
So in conclusion, stay
focus, kick some butt, enjoy the moment. But most of all "LOVE THE GAME."
