Penrod
Has The Edge
With
one of the top backs on the game in Edgerrin James, Penrod
has one of the more explosive offenses on paper in the
PFL Online. Edge, Manning, and Harrison, dubbed "the
triplets," are as good a threesome as you can find.
Penrod took the Colts at #27 after giving up the #2 pick
in the draft to Powder. Penrod makes off like a fat rat
after collecting big bucks for the #2 pick and still having
an explosive offense fall into his hands.
The bad new for Penrod may be at some point he has to
play defense, and the Colts D is one of lowest ranked
on the game. However, with a clever scheme, Penrod may
be able to hold off his opponents just enough to outscore
them. This is what he did in his preseason game vs. Ced
Nelson's Tampa Bay Bucs. Penrod was able to put up 27
points, while holding a mediocre ranked Tampa Bay offense
to 17.
The
toughest thing about the Colts besides the defense could
be being in the AFC South with the likes of Ice
Ellis and Powder. Ice Ellis showed his offensive skills
are still in tact, even with the Jaguars as he rang up
42 points on the Chargers.
Powder
has yet to play his exhibition game, but look for the
Texans to be much better than their dreaded ranking.

The
overall rating of a 76 is drugged down because of the
pathetic 65 defensive rating. With the special teams ranking
at 86, it helps bring the overall back up to 76. This
is clearly an offensive team. Only the Colts can boast
of having their QB, RB, and WR rank in the top 3 respectively
on the game. That's right, Manning, James, and Harrison
are ranked 3rd on the game in their respective positions.
No other team has rankings that high for those three skill
positions.
The
question is, how well will Penrod be able to use the Colts
in the tough division he is in. And secondly, how well
will he be able to contain the explosive offenses through
out the league with a sub par defense. The defense does
not have one player in the top 10 in the player rankings.
Mike Peterson is the stud on the defense, and is an excellent
run stuffer. Chad Bratzke is the sack master, with the
secondary being anchored by veteran Walt Harris. Other
than that, the Colts have holes, and untested players
that Penrod will need to make plays for him.
Summary
Penrod will need to be outstanding as defensive coordinator
to pick up some quality W's if expects to make a run at
the playoffs. The Colts have to face Ice Ellis twice,
in addition to 504 Wil and Powder twice.
A solid Steeler squad in addition to top baller T.O. (Bengals)
and T. Philly White, makes the Colts schedule rather challenging.
