adidas America is a subsidiary of Germany-based adidas-Salomon AG, the world's second largest manufacturer of athletic equipment, footwear and apparel. In 1997, adidas acquired Salomon, one of the world's leaders in sporting goods. The acquisition broadened their product range through the addition of three leading sports brands. Salomon for winter sports equipment, Taylor Made for golf equipment and Mavic for cycle components. Together, adidas and Salomon draw on a unique heritage of providing athletes with high quality products for top performance based on innovation and new technology.

adidas America oversees marketing, merchandising, distribution and sales of all adidas products in the United States. It employs roughly 1,000 people at its Oregon headquarters, various sales offices and in the field working in retail merchandising, sports promotion, or as tech reps.

adidas also has an international office in Oregon to design, develop, and market the categories most influenced by the U.S. market: Basketball, Training, Baseball, Football, Urban, Originals, Workout, and Walking. The categories most influenced by the European market are designed, developed, and marketed globally from the international headquarters in Herqogenaurach, Germany. Soccer, Running, Tennis, and numerous Olympic sports are headquartered at adidas-Salomon AG.
