Wayman Gresham is a living example of why one should never quit. The last sixty seconds of the Denver-Green Bay divisional championship game shall go down as one of the wackiest in PFL history. It all started when Denver, down 56-51 to Green Bay with less than a minute to go, kneels on the ball, as if they were ahead in the ball game. The spectators were baffled. The Broncs were down by 5, with all three time outs remaining, but playing with no urgency to win. Apparently, Gresham lost focus and viewed the scoreboard incorrectly. The Denver coach thought the Broncos were ahead, not behind. Finally, on third and long with less than forty seconds remaining, Gresham woke up and realized that Denver was trailing. "I though he had some kind of crazy plan up his sleeve", stated Tampa Bay coach Kwan Drake.

All that looked on were amazed. Finally, on third and long, Elway attempted to connect with Terrell Davis deep, and was picked off by William Henderson, and the place erupted. The once vocal Gresham was silent. Fox was celebrating jubilantly. It seemed as though the Pack were back, and returning to the AFC championship for the second straight year. But as Fox celebrated, the somber Gresham quietly held his resolve. There were still about thirty seconds left in the game, and Denver still had three timeouts remaining. Everyone started to talk about the possible AFC championship match ups....Green Bay and K.C. or Green Bay and Oakland. The defending champs were knocked off. The bully had been dethrone to the delight of several spectators in the room. But as all of this carried on, Denver was expelling its last timeout with 12 seconds remaining and Green Bay was faced with a fourth down deep in its own territory. Could it be, some wondered? Was there still a chance for Denver?

The punt was up, a great punt it was. 54 yards it soared, over the head of Terrell Davis who was back to receive it. Davis had to run back 15 yards to retrieve it, just to run about 8 yards to the sideline to get out of bounds with four seconds left. Gresham quietly whispered to himself, that's all I need. Four seconds.....then he audibly proclaimed, "it ain't over, there's still some time on the clock. It ain't over baby!" he proudly exclaimed.

Elway approached the line in a 5 wide formation with Davis, Sharpe, and Smith split wide right, EZ Ed, and Marcus Nash on the left. Hut, Hut! One thousand one....Elway drops deep, scrambles to elude the Packer rush......one thousand two, he looks deep down the center of the field and sees Terrell Davis breaking deep behind linebacker William Henderson.......one thousand three, Elway launches a rocket that hits Terrell Davis in stride.....one thousand four, Davis catches it at the 23 and pulls away from Henderson. Time has expired on the clock....if Henderson could only make a shoe string tackle the Pack would win.....Davis is at the 15, Henderson dives, he misses, Davis is at the five, safety Jamie Sharper dives, he misses, Fox throws his joystick upon the table in disgust......Davis scores! Its over, Denver wins, Denver wins!

Gresham goes berserk! He rips off his shirt and proclaims his will and fortitude. The arena is stunned. Everyone is looking for the words to describe what they just witnessed but they cant. Fox appears suicidal. All present have just witnessed one of the greatest turn of events since the miracle in the meadowlands of 1976 (Remember Joe Pisarkowich) It's unbelievable.

How? Why?

Once again, Gresham is living proof of why they say, it ain't over till it's over.
