The Candyman -
No doubt the top dawg until someone dethrones him. Rolled
through some hefty competition to win the title including
Winky White, Pasadena Soldier, Red Rza and Ace Hill. Called
his own shot before the tourney and backed it up. Showed
pure class and respect throughout the entire tourney.
Mixed in the smack talk with modesty and humility. Now
becomes public enemy #1 and will no doubt be the most
sought after baller since The Creator.

Winky White -
Many thought this would be White's year, but again he
has to play the bridesmaid. 13-2 at nationals the past
two years. The only problem is the two losses are in title
game. This time, a crucial fumble with a chance to ice
the game spoiled his hopes for his first national championship.
Still one of the most respected ballers in the nation
and will once again be a contender in 2001. If The Wink
& Candy meet next year, we may have to charge pay
per view.

Jay Kearney - Not bad for a PC player that is used to being
ranked #1. This guy can flat out ball. Once he gets used
to the subtle differences between PC balling and PSX balling,
he will be a force to be reckoned with. Ran into a stone
wall vs. Winky White, as White exposed him in the second
half of their game. Put up big numbers however throughout
the tourney. Look for this guy to be a major contender
in next years games.

Pasadena Soldier
- The Kid, as he has been dubbed, has flat out skillz,
and brass balls to go with them. Although he won the 3rd
place over Jay by default, I give Kearney the edge based
on his experience and knowledge of the game, being a former
NFL player. No doubt Soldier will disagree with this ranking
and he won't hesitate to let everyone know it. An improved
mental approach to the game however, will take him over
the top and perhaps a championship in 2001.

David (DC) Carter- The BFL really showed its depth with ballers
like White, DC and Ace Hill, among others. The mild mannered
baller has lethal skillz to go with a quiet yet intense
demeanor to match his nickname, "The Silent Assassin."
If DC did not have to face White in the quarter finals,
he could have emerged as one of the final four ballers
as well. Look for DC to make some noise in the 2001 games
as well.

Mad Guru-
Clever, and innovative are two words to describe The Guru.
They don't call him the guru for nothing. He has the ability
to take a simple play and show you how to use 3 or 4 different
options to make it lethal. Had a tough game vs. DC, otherwise,
could have easily made it to the final four. Put up a
102 points in the first round of the playoffs. Look for
The Guru to be a contender to win it all in Vegas, in
2001.

I Sux -
When you talk defense, you talk Isux. His expertise on
special teams forced his opponents to go for it on 4th
down, no matter where they were on the field. His ability
to block punts, FG, or XP shook up the field. His game
vs. Pasadena Soldier will go down in nationals history
as one of the best games ever played. The guy plays any
defensive set, and with his supreme stick control makes
plays defensively. Offense is no slouch either.

PC - Player Coach showed that the west coast is
a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Madden Ballers.
PC's west coast offense, combined with his attacking defense
sent him into the playoff round with a +30 point differential
on his opponents. Excellent insight and knowledge of the
game. Supreme analysis of opponents tendencies make him
tough to expose defensively. Loss to good friend Jay Kearney
in the quarterfinals.

|
Red Rza - My biggest surprise of the tourney. Rza came
back with a vengeance, proving that he was a top notch
baller. Defeating such guys as Jay Kearney, and PFL Champ
James Brooks, Rza cruised all the way to the quarterfinals
before falling to the eventual champion Candyman. Rza
should offer a clinic on how to effectively use the NY
Jets. With a strong running game and Keyshawn Johnson,
Rza set the tourney a blaze. However, no Keyshawn next
year. -(

Ace Hill - How can you not include the guy that only two
losses came at the hands of the champion. Had Ace Hill
not faced Candyman twice, who knows how far he would have
gotten in the games. Ace's analysis and knowledge of the
game makes him a difficult opponent to play against. Went
2-1 in his round robin and won his first round playoff
game before having to face the champ again. Look for Ace
to emerge as a contender again next year.
