The Swammi's Diary From The Madden Games

'Twas The Night Before Nationals

I was "sleeping down" as my wife calls it, deep in those covers, when my cell phone rang at 6:45 am. I was like, who in the @$%@# is calling me this time in the morning. On the other end was Fruitman, talking about, "sir did you ask for a 6:45 wake up call?" I was like hell naw I ain't ask for no wake up call, then he said, hey this is The Fruitman, and we laughed, and he told me the BFL caravan was on it's way and would be to the hotel by 7:00 AM. Once they arrived, he and Wink came up to the room and greeted me and we talked for a few minutes. I decided to get up and head to breakfast. I was eagerly awaiting a chance to go down stairs to rough up the Embassy's breakfast buffet. When I woke, I was really tired, and really wanted to stay in the bed and get some more rest. But as I thought about that ham and cheese omelet, and fresh pancakes, bacon, I seemed to get motivated to move. I soon realized however that I didn't have any toothpaste. Oh no! Halitosis city. D.C. stopped in just after Wink & Fruit and was quick to offer me his Colgate. I was like cool. I rolled down to the BFL floor....I call it that because they nearly had the entire 8th floor at the hotel.....and when I walked in X was getting a game in with an employee of the Embassy no sooner than they could get settled into the hotel! I told the guy, dude, don't you get yourself fired fooling around with the BFL! Anyways, I picked up the toothpaste, did my thang, then I rolled down stairs dressed in my sweet Nationals III shirt that PC designed with all of the names of the ballers in the field on the back. Immediately I was the envy of the field, because once they saw the shirt at breakfast, the ballers were ready for theirs.

The Official Establishment of the MWS
We decided to kick off the MWS meeting at 10:00 am in the atrium of the Embassy. It was very comfortable and perfect for the meeting. The PFL, DCFL, UMF, BFL, DFL, HMFL, NOMB, and several other Free Agents sat in on the meeting. It was an extremely productive meeting where we covered major ground. Some of the topics included an official ranking system, establishment of regional tournaments, and standardize rule play for nationals. I was elected as the first President of the MWS(boy I have these guys fooled) with PC elected VP, Guru secretary, and Bulldog as the member at large. We were all pleased after the two hour meeting, and are looking forward to putting our plans into effect.

The Ballers Reception
Guys went up to the rooms to chill after the meeting.
Poor Fruitman, after driving all through the night, was dozing off towards the end of the meeting, so I know he was looking forward to getting a few hours of sleep. I began to feel it also, and went up the room to get some sleep. HOWEVER, no sooner than I could get comfortable, Che, stopped in and wanted to get a game in. I watched Che take it to PC and several other guys in the room with Lou. As a matter of fact, PC had the TV in the bedroom with guys balling, and he had Lou whuppin em up in the living room, and he also set up the projection screen TV on the wall so it was literally wall to wall balling in PC's room. So we set it up. Che and I had been trying to get a game in since he joined the PFL Online Mac league when Madden 2K came out for Mac. I knew he was a quality baller, because he was one of the better ballers in the PFL Online League, plus he was faring well in the HMFL. So it was on, we played to a 7-7 tie early in the second quarter before we had to suspend play because my Mom (Momma Swammi) and my sis, and sister in law arrived at the hotel. They drove from my hometown of Beaumont, Tx to see me and visit some relatives in New Orleans. This happened to be the second Nationals my Mom has attended. So when I roll up on some of you busters on the forum and tell you that.."Yo fool, my Momma has been to more nationals than you have!" I will be telling the truth....don't take it personal. Anyway, I was glad to see them, and we hung out until it was time to get ready for the meeting. Billster, Candyman, DMAC, and some other guys stopped by my room and helped me stuff packets and get ready for the meeting. Meanwhile, the ballers had come down and were hanging at the reception. Everyone had drinks and were meeting each other. Meanwhile PC was in Diamond A & B working on the Media set up. My boy D.K. rolled in for the weekend to assist me in running the tournament. We grabbed all the packets and shirts and went down stairs to start registering the ballers. It was getting close to showtime! Just about everyone had rolled in and it was so good to see the fella's once again.

The Baller's Meeting
I already had my mental notes together on what to cover for the meeting. We went through the packets, answered the very few questions that were asked,
and rolled on. The guys seemed to understand what needed to be done. And everyone just looked ready to get it on. Right at the end of the meeting, The BFL asked for a moment to make some presentations. Winky & crew came out and presented BFL tshirts to Mad Guru, Pasadena Soldier, Afro Man as a token of their appreciation for following the BFL website. Following that, they proceeded to present me with a beautiful plaque on behalf of their league, expressing their appreciation for all that The Swammi has done to make Nationals what it is today. I was really moved by the gesture, and the way the community has embraced me as a leader. It was a great moment, and a wonderful way to start the tourney.

The 2 On 2 Tourney
D. Rob of the BFL
honored my request to be in charge of the annual multi player tourney. Some of the teams included, Winky White and DC, Defending Champ Candyman, and TrapJaw, Htown Bomber and BS Baller, and Pasadena Soldier and Will Stitt along with 8 other squads. Candyman had already mentioned to me that he really wanted to win the 2 0n 2 tourney and repeat as champ, as he won the 3 on 3 last year with DaBillster and Triggerfat. So he planned to not only repeat as the tourney champ, but the multiplayer champ. The first big story of the night was Pasadena Soldier and Will Stitt was getting blown out by two local ballers that were not even in the tournament. And of course as the word spread more ballers came in to witness the onslaught first hand. Little did Soldier know that was a precursor to what his weekend would be like. Meanwhile, BS Baller, who said he doesn't consider himself to be a top notch baller, was playing with his older brother, HTown Bomber. They pulled the second upset of the 2 on 2 by beating Winky White and DC in semi finals. And low and behold, it was an all HMFL 2 on 2 final. Candyman and TrapJaw proceeded to take it to Htown and BS to win the title. But little did Candy and Trap know, that would be the only title they would walk away with.

Time To Prepare For Championship Saturday!
I was exhausted by the time the 2 on 2 tourney was done so myself, Billster Director and D. Rob signed off our broadcast, and I went up stairs to get some Z's and get ready for tomorrow.

GAMEDAY!
