The Natural Takes OCS #3
One of the many new names in the MWS community surfacing with
some solid game is The Natural. After fairing well against some
of the BFL's best in Atlanta, The Natural took the show online
and entered the OCS #3, taking the championship in thrilling fashion,
topping xxqboyxx. The Natural has been consistently ranked in
the top 100 ballers online, currently near the 50-60 rank.
Curtis
Knight aka "the Natural" is considered by many MWS members
as a good baller, though he's yet to be considered a threat in
major tournaments and the upcoming nationals. Why? Exposure.
The fact that the Natural hasn't participated in any major MWS
events shouldn't cause you to overlook his skills - he's nearly
undefeated in every Madden 2003 tournament he's played in Atlanta
- home of the mighty BFL. As a free agent and full-time CompSci/Math
student at Morehouse College, Curtis Knight should be considered
a "Natural" on the sticks. For most of the year, he
has not even owned the game, and has limited access to it...amazing
to think he's beat the likes of Mookie, theBeast, KA, and DisDru
of the BFL this year.
Perhaps the lack of exposure he's seen has allowed him to come
in under the radar - there's no doubt he is capable of beating
some of the best out there. His performance in upcoming OCS tournaments
and the BFL Online league will be a good indicator of his readiness
for Nationals.
The Natural plays "smart" ball - you won't see too many
blowouts (unless he needs points in a tourney to get a higher
seed - just ask the poor guy he beat 100-0 at the QuinnSwift tourney).
Unlike some, who's game may collapse once the money plays and
nano-blitz fail, his game evolves as it needs to. No shotgun glitch
and audibling down to goaline here - just good coaching a stick
control. Pay careful attention to the defenseive player with the
red dot, and watch him manually cover one receiver to the next
as they zig zag through his zone, then sprint across screen for
a pick - refreshing.
He's been an underdog for some time, but is it time to treat the
Natural as a favorite to win upcoming MWS events? Very possibly.
Will the Natural's 15 minutes last beyond OCS3? Stay tuned.
