Does The South Have Nationals
On Lock?
Four National Champions. All four from the south. Does
the south have the most coveted prize in Madden on lock?
That one question can spark a 10 page thread debate at
the National Madden Forum alone. However, history has
shown that the south has dominated the competition and
has produced the most dominant ballers since Nationals
I. Is that all about to change?
 |
| Small
in stature but big in game, The BFL's Dis Dru is tough. |
With ballers like Cocky Lou, Young Gunz, and the Sandman,
the east coast seems to not only seems to be catching
up to the pack, they are beginning to dominate. With the
exception on MoWash, you may as well call the Mega Bowl
a clean east coast sweep. The east coast placed numerous
ballers deep into the field, grabbing the respect and
admiration of the rest of the field while the perennial
southern powerhouses found themselves being spectators
in the late rounds. That is a position that ballers like
Tillery, Candyman & 504 Will are not used to being
in.
As for the west coast....they are still in a struggle
to gain respect on a national level. While the Ballers
Clubs, BAMA, UMF, and MPL all have talented ballers, the
only two that seem to be consistently advancing deep into
tournaments are T. Fonk and as of late Mo Nutt. T. Fonk
has certainly been the class of the west coast ballers.
The only thing Fonk is missing is a crown from a Nationals
like tournament. His recent performance was impressive
in GT Philly's Throwback tourney advancing to the sweet
16, as well as a solid showing in Vegas before losing
to eventual champion Young Gunz. But Fonk has been one
of few ballers from the left coast to advance deep consistently.
MoNutt has been on fire lately. Yet he has not nabbed
a regional or national tourney crown. Nevertheless his
play has been solid. You could make a case for Reality
or Lance, but their inconsistent play in tourneys has
kept them from earning elite status.
 |
| Despite
his slump, Tillery is still considered one of the
best in the south. |
MoNutt vows to change that. "I got some stuff for
my west coast brothers when I return," stated the
box office superstar. Morris is currently on location
in Baltimore working on his next box office mega hit.
Chestnutt literally ran through the field until he met
Big Game James, an opponent he had success against the
last few times they locked horns. The loss prevented Mo
from advancing to the final four for a shot at Cocky Lou.
The south, while it still has a deep staple of high profile
ballers, has not been as dominant as the east coast recently.
The 504 camp seems to be in a funk. And the BFL has been
suffering from early eliminitus syndrome. The PFL and
HMFL are off the radar, while KOTC represented well in
Vegas, but missed the Philly tournament. Thus the jury
is still out on them.
The Milwaukee Players Ball, DC's MMBL tournament and
KOTC's 10K shindig will give us a chance to further evaluate
the field. While Baltimore closes out the tournament season
on June 27 with another 10K extravaganza as we head for
the Granddaddy of em all, Nationals V in Miami.
