Ruben Brown adds to O-line overhaul

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (April 2, 2004) -- Eight-time Pro Bowl guard
Ruben Brown signed a three-year contract with the
Chicago Bears.
He is the second major addition to Chicago's offensive line this season.
The Bears earlier signed John Tait to a six-year deal after
luring the right tackle from Kansas City.
"I'm still healthy, still hungry and still can do the job on Sunday,"
said Brown, whose signing was announced at a news conference.
Brown was released last month by Buffalo in a salary-cap
move. He had been excused from the Bills' season finale at New England,
and the team has refused to say why.
Brown has maintained that it was for disciplinary reasons after he
disagreed over offensive philosophy with former coach Gregg Williams.
Brown primarily played left guard in Buffalo but will move to right
guard with the Bears.
