Brown Elected New PFL
Chief
After
serving six consecutive years on the PFL Executive Council, one of the
PFL founding members, The Swammi, stepped down as Commissioner, passing
the gavel to 6 year PFL veteran Teddy B!
Citing reasons
that he wishes to concentrate solely on planning Nationals V (which the
PFL is the host league), Swammi also commented that it was time to pass
to gavel. "We have several talented ballers that are capable of running
this league and continuing the great things we have done here in Florida,
and as trendsetters across the nation," The Swammi stated. "I
think we are in excellent hands with Teddy B! and his supporting board
members are outstanding.
When asked
about the significance of the Executive Council, The Swammi responded,
"The Board is what makes you look good as a commissioner. You got
to have a great board. Tony Womack and Teddy B! were both excellent Deputy
Commissioners and helped me look good at what I was doing. They provided
excellent insight and great ideas."
David Hines
takes over as Deputy Commissioner. "Hines is a n excellent selection,"
stated former commissioner Swammi. "He will bring a level headed
approach to the board, helping to keep things balanced." The thing
I respect about David (Hines) is that while he hasn't always had the best
PFL seasons record wise, he is without question one of our most loyal
and dedicated members. And that is what you call leading by example."
Joining Brown
& Hines will be a new Executive Director, Brian Cook. Cook, a 3 year
PFL veteran, will take over for Joe Hilton, who had served three consecutive
years with The Swammi on the board. Cook will also be assisting The Swammi
with web site maintenance at Corradocardoso.info
Former Commissioner
Wayne Allen returns to the board as a member at large. Allen, the PFL's
very first commissioner, is one of the founding members of the PFL and
boast and impressive 10 year commitment to the game. In addition to Allen,
Kwan Drake returns to the board for his third straight year as a member
at large, solidifying a top notch board, for Brown to work with.
The Council's
first item of business, team entries into the draft lottery. The 2nd annual
PFL Draft Lottery will be held November 2. However, all teams wishing
to enter the lottery must declare so by October 15.
The Council
will more than likely haggle over expansion, which seems to be an issue
each year. With more than 12 ballers expected to apply, the council will
have to decide if THE LEAGUE will continue to grow at an excellerated
rate, or grow slowly as they have in the past.
