There is an old
saying that goes, "you are only as good as your last game."
Nationals II champion,
Candyman relates to this old adage well. With all of the attention
being placed on new top dog Lou Tillery,
Candyman had become the forgotten man. That is until he took it
upon himself to let his actions on the sticks do his talking.
Since falling to
Wallstreet in the second round of
Nationals III, Candyman
has been working to get the respect that he once commanded in the
community. At the start of the 2002 Madden season, most of the talk
centered around Lou Tillery and his dominance in Atlanta, New Orleans,
and at the King Of The Couch.
All of a sudden, the previous champ had become just another baller
in the pack chasing Tillery. But that may have been just what it
took to get the fire burning in the former champs belly.
Early in the season,
Candyman struggled vs. interleague nemesis Trapjaw, and current
national champ LT. However, since March, the former champ has two
wins over both LT and Trapjaw, in addition to his Gulf War Championship,
HMFL Title, and Four KOTC titles. It is almost certain that Trap
and Candy will collide for the HMFL
Summer League championship later this month.
Candyman's recent
success places him the elite pack of about 5 ballers favored to
win the 2002 championship. However, the former champ has not made
a commitment to return to Nationals and attempt to become the first
baller to win two crowns. Whether it is because of the intense verbal
exchanges with other ballers, or other personal reasons, neither
Candy or Trapjaw has indicated for sure their intentions to play.
