Is
LT's Dominance Hurting Nationals?
By
The Swammi
The
question is a provocative one to say the least, and of course the
obvious answer is no. If anything LT has helped build the Nationals
legacy. He has been a humble and gracious champion. A people's champion.
Anyone that plays him can't help but acknowledge the fact that he
is awesome on the sticks, but what may be most impressive is that
he never talks before he takes action, unlike many self proclaimed
great ballers.
But
after his increasing dominance in not just the MWS community, but
nationwide, are ballers starting to feel as though they have no
chance to win against The Dominator? Recently at MWS message board
central, the recently renowned Curly Top threw in his towel after
frustrating performances in LT dominated tourneys. An e-mail from
an another baller was sent to The Swammi saying:"I cant
afford to come out there and lose.... I'm so puzzled as to why others
think they have a chance against Lou,Trap, and Candy? I think its
because they haven't felt the southern blitz, but feel they can
handle it."
Is
LT that intimidating? In the MWS article "Dirty
South Ballers" written earlier in the season, Afroman
pointed out the significance of these infamous southern blitz packages.
However, for as great as LT's defense has been, he has taken his
offense to a new level as well. Earlier in the season, the champ
was averaging just under 20 points a game in his competitive contest.
In his recent tourney, he was able to up that average to close to
25 ppg. (in non blowout games) And the fact that Tillery
is clicking offensively and defensively may have some ballers running
for cover.
Maybe
some that have witnessed his fury are a bit intimidated by what
Tillery brings to the table. However, there is whole group of ballers
out west, that like there chances vs. the Goliath of the MWS.
Top ballers such as FA Lance, Upsetter, Chuck Dogg, Deez, and Dog
Bawlz are certainly confident about their game and their style vs.
an LT. "We are having the tournament in our own backyard this
year, and we don't intend to let someone come from anywhere else
and lay claim to the title," exclaims The Chairman. The west
coast ballers have been itching at the chance to take heed to the
Nationals IV motto: "Earn Your Respect!" Therefore the
ballers on the left coast are looking to do what the ballers out
east have not been able to do. Take down Tillery.
In
addition, the dirty south ballers such as former National champ
Candyman likes his chances against Tillery. He has taken the liberty
to express to the community that he is 2-1 against the champ this
season. And he is the only person this season to defeat Tillery
in tournament play. However, the former champ is rumored not to
be attending Nationals. If that is true, it may be a lost opportunity
for the once respected champ to regain his claim to fame. And then
there is Candyman's fellow HMFL partner in crime Trapjaw. The Trap
defeated LT 2-1 in matchplay back in February, but lost to him in
the title game of the NOMB Battle at the Bayou.
The
Silent Assassin, the BFL's D.C. has also been victorious vs. Tillery
this season, and BFL runner up Dru gave Tillery all he could handle
in the semifinals of the Baltimore tourney.
So
while there may be some ballers shying away from going after the
champ, there are a few that like their chances. But if only seems
to be a few. So rather than asking if LT's dominance not good for
nationals......the better question is, "who dares to
dethrone him?"
