Drake Can't Get Bucs Over The Hump
Despite being walloped last week by Baltimore, Kwan Drake rallied the Bucs to finish the season winning 5 of their final six games. Not only did the Bucs finish on a positive note, they upset the previously unbeaten Ryan Collins in the process. The win over the Panthers is probably the biggest win of Drake's PFL career. "I felt the weight of the entire league on my shoulders," stated Drake after the game. Drake was down at one point in the game 51-28, before he stormed back to score 24 unanswered to secure the win. The most ironic part of the game was when Collins looked as though he would win the game at the end, the normally sure handed Mushin Muhammad fumble deep in Tampa territory and the Bucs recovered to seal the victory.

In his second game, Drake turned around and layed an egg vs. 1-6 David Nunez. Nunez, the designatted whipping boy of the PFL, held the explosive Buc offense to 7 points. The Bucs were up a mere 7-6 late in the fourth quarter with under a minute to go when Jason Seahorn intercepted a Shaun King pass and returned it to the Giants 46. Kerry Collins connected with Joe Jurevicious on two consecutive completions, both thrown in triple coverage. The second pass set the Giants up at the Bucs 18 yard line with :17 seconds remaining. Nunez called a stop clock play to set up for the winning field goal from 35 yards out. Wisely enough, Drake used his final timeout to ice Nunez, and that proved to work. Nunez's kick wasn't even close and the Bucs held on to win. It would have been the biggest upset in the PFL history had the Giants won. The win did bring Drake to 6-4, just a half game behind Teddy B! who eased by Green Bay 20-14.
