Jags In Battle For Division
Title
|

Fred Taylor rushed for 138 yards vs. Indy.

At 12-2, you would think the
Jags would have locked up the NFC Eastern Division title. But
with pesky Dallas at their
hills, the Jags are still fighting to come out on top with the
first round bye. The Jags raced out of the gates to start out
6-0 before being upset by Wayne Allen's 49ers. The Jags got back
to their winning ways, winning the next 3 before the Vikes
lambasted them 49-14. Now at 12-2, the Jags face a resurgent Teddy
B! (Bills), and the hungry Cowboys. Dallas has revenge on
their minds, not to mention breaking the Jags from the three game
winning streak they have on Dallas. Last time The Swammi beat
Hilton.......it was on Madden 99, in the early part of the season.
Since then Hilton has gone on a four game regular season streak.
If the Jags can win out, they win the division and will more than
likely face the winner of the Tennessee-Dallas
game. However, if the Jags fall to Dallas and the Bills, they
will be at 12-4, and if the Bills win out, Buffalo would take
the 3 seed and the Jags would have to face Tampa
Bay. All the Jags need to do is one to assure a #3 seed, and
win two to locked up the division title.
In each of the
Jags losses, the offense has struggled. Hilton got back on track
last week when he scored 50 in the second half vs. Cook's Redskins.
Washington lead 21-14 at the half, before the Jags exploded in
the second have to win 64-28.
Don't expect those high scores this week. The Bills defense has
been stifling, while the Dallas defense has allowed over 28 points
only three times this season. One of those times, came at the
hands of Hilton Jag's in week 3 when the Pokes went down 35-14.
While it is
a lock that Hilton will make the playoffs, there is no lock that
he will advance. Three years in the post season has equaled no
wins for the improving Hilton. That in itself is an obstacle at
some point the Jags must address. For if not, they may be linked
to another excellent Florida sports team......the Miami
Heat. Great regular seasons....nightmarish post seasons.
