Barton's passing use of Moore & Crowell was electrifying at Nationals

Barton Saves Best Ball For Nationals
Barton came into the PFL as rookie in the 2001 season, but he spoke with a confidence of someone that had won a PFL title or even a national title, much as The Creator had done. After getting off to a blazing 6-0 start, Barton stumbled towards the end of the season. Yet he managed to earn a wildcard spot, a 10-6 regular season record, and a trip to the AFC championship. Two of Barton's losses were to fellow 1-9-3-9 sparring partners James Brooks and Ryan Collins. Collins and Brooks played for the Superbowl V crown. Yet Barton advanced further than both ballers at Nationals III. Barton saved his best games for the national stage going 5-1 and advancing to the quarterfinals. Barton started by going 3-0 in the round robin series. Then on Sunday, he shook up the tournament with a stunning win over heavily favorite Winky White. Barton went on to defeat Playmaker before losing to Will Turner in the quarterfinal round.

Barton's up tempo game plan was difficult for many of his opponents to adjust to. In addition his use of the Lions was very creative and innovative. Barton found ways to get Crowell, Morton and Moore the ball while using the big tight end David Sloan as well. While defensively, the Lions don't have the marquee players, Barton was creative with his schemes, mixing his blitzes and zones, taking the Lions to a higher level than most ballers would think they were capable of playing at. Barton's stellar play earned him a #9 MWS ranking.

Now Barton preps for the 2002 season. And after considering taking a chance at another team in the draft lotto, Barton will remain with the Lions for a second season.
