Barrow O.K. at 3-3
Don't tell A. B. not to be content with a 3-3 record at this point
in the season. He will gladly inform you that he is happy to do
better than his 2-14 posting from last season. Not that Barrow is
ready to tank the rest of the season and celebrate just getting
three wins.....far from it. But the Oakland coach is delighted to
be at .500 at this point in the season. A. B. is not going to stop
at just three wins this season however. Barrow has as good a shot
as any one in the AFC west to capture his first division title.
If he is to do so, he must get through the meat of his schedule.
Barrow's next three games are vs. St. Louis, the Jets, and Dallas.
Barrow has never beaten either team in the regular season.
Shades From The Past
Barrow seems to be getting
that old winning feeling from 1999, when he went 12-4, and into
the second round of the PFL playoffs. However, he must begin to
play on the field like he did in 1999, limiting turnovers, and
making good sound adjustments throughout the game. In the San
Francisco game, Barrow failed to adjust to Allen's defensive adjustments
to contain Tim Brown's big plays. Barrow was going to Brown often,
8 times for 247 yds. and 3 td's. But Allen countered in the second
half, leaving the field wideto compensate for containing
Brown. Barrow never saw it, thus the Niners went on to win.
The Raiders have enjoyed the
comforts on their fourth place schedule. Still to come, another
bout with the Redskins, Tennessee, the NY Giants and the Dolphins.
If Barrow takes care of business in those games, and steals one
or two from St. Louis, San Fran, or Jacksonville, he could be
looking at a playoff berth. Since the AFC Central is stacked deep
with playoff potential teams, 7-9, or even 8-8, may not make it
into the playoffs this season.
Alvin
Barrow Press Conference: Barrow on starting out 2-0.
