Resilient
Rams Head For Superbowl
| |
 |
| John B vs. Jay Kearney for the right to go to PFL
Online Superbowl I. |
John
B appeared to be down and out in the NFC
Championship game vs. Jay Kearney.
Trailing 21-7 early in the fourth quarter, it seemed as though Kearney
was about to cruise towards another online championship when the
wheels came off the Lions scoring machine. It took John B until
the 4th quarter, but some key defensive adjustments slowed down
Kearney's five wide attack and thanks to some stubborn Ram defense,
John B had tied the game 21-21.
The
turning point of the game however, may have been some questionable
decision making by Kearney down the stretch. Faced with a 4th and
3 on his own 27 yard line, Kearney uncharacteristically gambled
and went for it, and failed. That gave John B the ball, the momentum,
and unfortunately for Kearney the NFC Title, as he proceeded to
control the clock and go in for the winning score, to make it a
28-21 final.
Now
the Rams face a rebounding Ice Ellis,
who has taken advantage of his second chance at being the first
baller to claim an online title and a National title. Ellis defeated
both T.O. and Mike
Dixon in route to his first ever online Superbowl appearance.
The two will square off Feb. 3, 2003 at 9:00 PM ET.....
Swammi's
Mid Term Report Card:
John B hasn't been explosive, nor has been flashy. What he has
been in consistent. The Rams have done it on defense, allowing an
average of 9.6 PPG. The way that John B has used the Rams offensively
shows that he is not all about using a high powered team. He plays
the game how it should be played, using Marshall Faulk to carry
the game, and just enough from Warner, Bruce and Holt, to take care
of business when needed. John B has shown that whether he has the
Rams or Texans, he is a solid coach, and a game tactician. Grade:
